Scapia Credit Card rewards 2026: Scapia Coin value, earn rates, redemption rules, exclusions, and the February 2026 devaluation and changes explained.
Apply for the Scapia Credit Card
Zero Forex Markup on international spends, unlimited domestic lounge access, and Lifetime Free guarantee.
The Scapia Credit Card does not give cashback, air miles, or points you can transfer to airlines. It gives you Scapia Coins – a simple travel currency you earn on spending and spend on travel booked through the Scapia app. The headline rates look generous (up to 20%), but the real question is what those percentages convert to in rupees, and where the coins can actually be used.

This guide breaks down the full rewards system for 2026: earn rates, coin value, redemption, exclusions, the rules most cardholders miss, and the February 2026 changes that reshaped the programme.
Scapia Credit Card Rewards in 30 Seconds
- Visa card: 10 Scapia Coins per Rs. 100 on eligible spends (minimum transaction Rs. 20) – effectively 2% back.
- RuPay card (including UPI): 5 Scapia Coins per Rs. 100 on eligible transactions of Rs. 500 or more – effectively 1% back.
- Travel booked on the Scapia app: 20 Scapia Coins per Rs. 100 – effectively 4% back.
- Coin value: 5 Scapia Coins = Rs. 1, fixed. No fluctuating rates.
- Redemption: only for travel bookings on the Scapia app (flights, hotels, trains, buses, visas, experiences). You can pay up to 100% of a booking with Coins.
- No cashback, no statement credit, no transfers to airline or hotel programmes.

What Are Scapia Coins?
Scapia Coins are the card’s reward currency. Every eligible transaction earns you a number of Coins based on the spend category, and those Coins sit in your Scapia app wallet until you use them against a travel booking.
The defining feature is the fixed value: 5 Scapia Coins always equal Rs. 1. There are no slabs, no bonus redemption windows, and no devaluation-within-redemption to track. One coin is always worth Rs. 0.20. That simplicity is deliberate – it makes the “10%” and “20%” earn rates easy to convert into real money, which is exactly what the next section does.
Scapia Credit Card Reward Rates (2026)
| Where you spend | Coins earned | Effective value back | Minimum transaction |
|---|---|---|---|
| Eligible everyday spends (Visa) – dining, groceries, shopping, online and offline | 10 Coins per Rs. 100 | 2% | Rs. 20 |
| Eligible RuPay spends, including UPI payments | 5 Coins per Rs. 100 | 1% | Rs. 500 |
| Travel bookings on the Scapia app – flights, hotels, trains, buses, visas, experiences, Scapia Store | 20 Coins per Rs. 100 | 4% | None stated |
A few things worth noting. The Visa card is your everyday earner at an effective 2%, which is strong for a lifetime-free card. The RuPay card’s 1% looks modest, but it applies to UPI payments – a category where most credit cards earn nothing at all. And the 20% rate on app travel bookings is the engine of the whole programme: it is both the highest earn rate and the place where you redeem.
The Axis Bank variant of the Scapia card follows the same structure: up to 20% Coins on eligible travel bookings, up to 10% on eligible everyday spending, and 5% on UPI, online and offline spends of Rs. 500 or more, with no maximum cap on rewards under that benefit.
Scapia Coin Value: What Your Rewards Are Actually Worth
Percentages are abstract. Here is the math with real numbers, using the fixed 5 Coins = Rs. 1 conversion:
- Rs. 1,000 on groceries (Visa): 100 Coins earned = Rs. 20 in travel value.
- Rs. 10,000 on shopping (RuPay/UPI): 500 Coins earned = Rs. 100 in travel value.
- Rs. 20,000 flight booked on the Scapia app: 4,000 Coins earned = Rs. 800 in travel value.
- Rs. 50,000 of everyday Visa spending in a month: 5,000 Coins = Rs. 1,000 toward your next trip.

| Coins in your wallet | Travel value |
|---|---|
| 500 Coins | Rs. 100 |
| 2,500 Coins | Rs. 500 |
| 5,000 Coins | Rs. 1,000 |
| 25,000 Coins | Rs. 5,000 |
There is no minimum redemption threshold and no cap on how many Coins you can accumulate, so even small balances are usable. A Rs. 800 train ticket can be paid entirely with 4,000 Coins if you have them.
How to Redeem Scapia Coins
Redemption happens entirely inside the Scapia app at checkout. When you book a flight, hotel, train, bus, visa application, experience, or Scapia Store order, your Coin balance is offered as a payment option – and you can apply Coins against up to 100% of the booking value. A booking can be completely free if your balance covers it.
The step-by-step flow:
- Earn Coins on eligible card spends through the month.
- Coins are credited to your wallet at the end of your billing cycle.
- Book travel on the Scapia app as normal.
- Apply Coins at checkout – partially or fully, your choice.
- Earn 20% Coins back on that same booking, feeding the next trip.

Step 5 is the loop most people overlook: because app travel bookings earn the highest rate, every redemption seeds the next one. A traveller who books flights through the app is perpetually earning 4% back on money that was itself earned as rewards.
What you cannot do: convert Coins to cash, take them as statement credit, or transfer them to airline miles or hotel points. If your travel life runs through airline loyalty programmes rather than a booking app, this limitation matters – weigh it honestly before committing to the card. Transactions That Earn Zero Rewards
Not every swipe earns. The exclusion list is long, and it grew in 2026 – so check this before assuming a big payment will mint Coins:
- Transactions below Rs. 20 on Visa, or below Rs. 500 on RuPay
- Scapia credit card bill payments
- ATM cash withdrawals
- Wallet loading / top-ups
- Rent payments
- Fuel transactions
- Education and school fees
- Insurance premiums
- Utility and telecom payments
- Government and business service payments
- Gift cards and gift vouchers
- EMI transactions
- Crypto transactions
- Foreign currency (forex) transactions
- Late fees or any other card charges

Two exclusions deserve emphasis. Insurance and utility payments lost rewards in the February 2026 update – previously reliable monthly earners for many cardholders. And international transactions earn zero Coins: you still save the 2-3.5% forex markup that other cards charge (see our zero forex markup guide), but the spend itself earns nothing back.
Reward Rules Most Cardholders Miss
- Coins credit at billing-cycle end, not instantly. Do not expect to see Coins the moment a transaction settles – they land when your statement generates.
- 36-month validity. Coins expire 36 months after they are credited, which is generous – but track older balances if you accumulate heavily.
- 365-day inactivity nullifies everything. If the card goes unused for more than a year, your entire accrued balance is wiped. One small transaction a year protects the whole kitty.
- No earning or redemption caps. There is no monthly ceiling on how many Coins you can earn or use – unusual for a free card.
- Fuel surcharge waiver is separate. Fuel earns no Coins, but you still get the 1% surcharge waiver (up to Rs. 500 per month on transactions up to Rs. 5,000).
The February 2026 Changes: What Got Devalued
Effective 27 February 2026, Federal Bank revised the card’s terms in what was widely reported as the card’s first major devaluation:
- Rewards removed on insurance premiums and utility/telecom payments. These were everyday, high-frequency categories – their removal quietly cut monthly earnings for many users.
- Airport privilege threshold doubled from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 20,000 combined monthly spend across the Visa and RuPay cards, and the removed categories no longer count toward it.
What did not change: the 10%/5%/20% earn rates, the 5 Coins = Rs. 1 value, zero forex markup, and lifetime-free pricing. The core rewards engine is intact – but the card now rewards travel and everyday retail spending, not bill payments. If lounge access matters to you, our lounge access guide covers the new Rs. 20,000 threshold in detail.
How to Maximise Your Scapia Rewards
- Route all travel through the Scapia app. The 20% earn rate (4% effective) is double the everyday rate. Flights, hotels, trains, buses, even visa fees – if the app sells it, book it there.
- Use the Visa card for everyday spending. At 10 Coins per Rs. 100 it earns double the RuPay rate on the same purchase.
- Batch RuPay and UPI spends above Rs. 500. A Rs. 450 UPI payment earns nothing; a Rs. 500 one earns 25 Coins. Combine small purchases where practical.
- Do not split bills to game thresholds artificially – but do be aware that ten Rs. 100 UPI payments earn zero while one Rs. 1,000 payment earns 50 Coins.
- Keep the card active. One transaction a year protects your entire Coin balance from the 365-day inactivity wipe.
- Stop routing insurance and utility bills here. Since February 2026 they earn nothing – move them to a card that rewards those categories.
- Time big purchases with travel plans. Coins credit at billing-cycle end, so a large purchase a cycle before a planned trip converts neatly into a discount on that trip.
- Track Coin expiry. With 36-month validity, old Coins from heavy-spend months eventually lapse – redeem oldest balances first on the next booking.
Are Scapia Rewards Worth It? An Honest Take
On pure earn rate, 2% back on everyday spending and 4% on travel bookings is excellent for a card with no annual fee – most lifetime-free cards in India return 1% or less on base spending. The fixed coin value removes the usual reward-point anxiety about devaluation at redemption.
The honest caveat is flexibility. These rewards spend in exactly one place: travel booked through the Scapia app. There is no cashback option, no statement credit, and no transfer to airline or hotel programmes. If you travel often and are comfortable booking through the app, the rewards are genuinely valuable. If you want rewards you can spend anywhere, a cashback card will serve you better despite lower headline rates.
Pair the rewards with the card’s other strengths – zero forex markup abroad, UPI rewards on the RuPay variant, and zero annual fee – and the overall package is one of the strongest free travel cards available in India right now. Just know exactly what you are earning, and where you can spend it.

How many Scapia Coins do I earn per Rs. 100 spent?

Yes. Coins are valid for 36 months from the date they are credited. Additionally, if your card remains unused for more than 365 days, your entire Coin balance is nullified.
-
Why did I not earn rewards on my transaction?
The most common reasons: the transaction was in an excluded category (rent, fuel, insurance, utilities, wallet loads, education, forex, gift cards), it was below the minimum (Rs. 20 on Visa, Rs. 500 on RuPay), or it was a bill payment, EMI, or ATM withdrawal. Check the exclusion list above.

Coins are credited to your Scapia app wallet at the end of your billing cycle, not immediately after each transaction.
-
